Museum collections are vulnerable to destruction from pests such as insects, rodents, birds and mold.  This type of deterioration to collections is not always addressed because the damage is often gradual, obscured from general view, and therefore, unnoticed.  However, over time this persistent activity can have devastating effects on museum collections.  That is why ISOTECH’s “Premier Museum and Antiques Service Team” is trained and qualified to identify, perform and proactively meet all your pest management concerns.

ISOTECH's personnel, training and commitment to excellence are our biggest asset and what separates us from our competition.  Most of our service personnel are state certified, Branch II Licensed, Branch III Licensed, QAL Ag. Licensed, hold their Trapping License, AIB Certified and have completed the Purdue Continuing Education Course in Entomology.  Technicians also are certified on ladders, lifts, CPR, and First Aid.  What does this mean?  An Elite Team of Pest Management Specialists that can effectively eliminate and solve any pest problem they are faced with.  By getting to the source of the problem, we will be able to resolve the problem faster and educate your staff on how to prevent the problem from reoccurring.  This type of service saves time and money for everyone and in the long run allows us to proactively treat more areas.

In the past, chemical applications were widely used in museums to eradicate pests.  Recent changes in public attitudes and government regulations have increased the pressure to minimize the use of pesticides, and have encouraged the use of preventative measures, pheromone traps, thorough inspections and less toxic materials such as baits and monitoring equipment.

ISOTECH’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) focuses on proactive preventive techniques to minimize food, moisture and environmental conditions required for pest survival.  Sanitation is also a crucial factor in pest control.  A clean, uncluttered environment is not attractive to pests.  ISOTECH’s Premier Service Team will work together with museum personnel to educate them on the condition of the building and the factors leading to the pest activity.  ISOTECH will also provide detailed reports outlining problem areas and recommendations to solve sanitation issues.

Museums are vulnerable to pests because they can infiltrate buildings through cracks and holes throughout the buildings structure.  It is important to seal openings in buildings to inhibit passage.  Pests are also brought into museums from the outside on objects and sometimes people.  Containment of affected areas or objects is important in preventing infested materials from contaminating non-infested collections.  ISOTECH specializes in designing custom inspection processes and will work closely with museum personnel to insure a proactive identification program is being performed properly.
